A workshop titled ‘Heritage at Risk’ conducted by Dr. Rohit Jigyasu (UNESCO Chair at the Ritsumeikan University, Japan and ex-president of ICOMOS India) was conducted on 20th August 2018 from 10.30- 1.30pm in the morning. The workshop was attended by various stakeholders including officials from the VMC futuristic cell, ASI conservation assistant for Baroda, MSU Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning students and faculties, individual art consultant, urban designer, INTACH Vadodara Convenor, archaeologist from the MSU Archaeology department, and also heritage contractors Sarang infrastructure (currently working on the Laxmi Vilas Palace), Savani Heritage Conservation Pvt. Ltd. and a Jambughoda Palace representative. It addressed how to carry out disaster/risk management at a local level, identifying stakeholders, and carrying out mitigative measures for affected buildings. The interactive session focused on both technical and monetary aspects of conservation post disaster.
