Vadodara for Creative City for Design conference with VMC as the host

Vadodara’s UNESCO Creative City Initiative

Designation Status: Vadodara is a prospective “Creative City of Design” applicant. It was not selected in the most recent round of nominations, which were announced in late 2025. The city plans to make another attempt in the next nomination cycle.

Key Partners: The VMC is leading the initiative in partnership with local bodies, such as the Heritage Trust. The Heritage Trust was officially entrusted with leading the initiative after signing an MoU with VMC in August 2024.

Recent Events: The VMC and its partners have hosted workshops and a national conclave to build a vision paper and gather support for the nomination. These events included panel discussions and presentations focused on the city’s potential for the design category and its “temporal heritage”.
